A Historic Milestone for TFS – Breaking Ground at the West Campus for a new Athletic Wing

TFS is pleased to announce that we have reached a momentous milestone in the history of our school: this morning, we broke ground on the West Campus Athletic Wing—marking the first time in over 20 years that we are expanding our footprint on either of our campuses!
The new wing will house a 5,560 sq. ft. regulation-sized gymnasium that is almost double the size of the existing facility, offering the school an appropriately sized space to proudly host home games and tournaments. Adjacent to the school yet accessible through its own dedicated entrance, the gym will also serve as a rental facility for the community outside of school hours.

Alongside this landmark addition to the West Campus, students will also benefit from a state-of-the-art Design Studio, where those in Grade 2 and beyond can explore hands-on learning in engineering, robotics and applied mathematics. Additionally, a brand-new classroom will further enhance their academic experience, providing even more opportunities for innovation and growth.

The first major addition to the West Campus in a generation

Home to TFS’ West Campus for over 50 years, 1293 Meredith Avenue in Port Credit last saw an expansion in 2003 with the addition of a new wing to the facility. This groundbreaking is a collective achievement, made possible by the vision and dedication of so many in the community. Most importantly, this transformative project is happening thanks to generous families and donors who have stepped forward to help make this vision a reality.
Today, the Chair of the Board of the TFS Foundation, Sunny Lowe, recognized the exceptional generosity of families who have made significant contributions to the West Campus portion of Can’t Wait – La campagne pour TFS: the Sprott family, the Kaneff family, Mark and Kristen Bechara, and Wallace Wang and Lily Meng.
Thanks to their leadership and commitment to the future of TFS, along with the generosity of other donors, the West Campus community has contributed more than $3.8 million towards our campaign priorities: almost $240,000 for student financial assistance and over $3.5 million in either unrestricted gifts or to our capital projects.

The beginning of a new chapter for TFS

The West Campus has long been a place of extraordinary energy, camaraderie and achievement. Over the years, it has become clear that our students, our families and our educators dream of a space that will not only support athletic excellence but also foster personal growth, resilience and teamwork. Today, that dream begins to take shape, aligning with our 2023-2028 Strategic Plan commitment to fostering a strong culture of wellness for students, staff and families.

This milestone also marks the beginning of a broader transformation for our school. Later this year, we will break ground at our Toronto campus, where L’Atelier will create an inspiring new hub for creativity and innovation at TFS. We eagerly anticipate coming together once again to celebrate this next chapter.
