Nancy Cohen '78, The Distinguished Service Award Recipient 2023
"My experience at TFS helped me acquire leadership skills and encouraged me to be an engaged citizen, to embrace new concepts and to advocate for new ideas."
An alumna and parent of two TFS graduates, Nancy Cohen has been an exemplary volunteer since her own graduation in 1978. Her many years of leadership promise to enrich the TFS community for generations to come.
Nancy has been an integral part of the TFS community for most of the school’s history. As a student, she demonstrated great school spirit, and her involvement on student council helped sow the seeds for the excellent, hands-on learning the school offers today. Since the day of her graduation, Nancy has remained actively engaged with our school, acting as Alumni Class Representative in 1978 and working with the Alumni Executive since the eighties to provide meaningful opportunities to stay connected.
A dedicated volunteer, Nancy has never been shy to roll her sleeves up and help serve pizza or operate a booth at the Kermesse fun fair, and has always been keen to take on a new challenge. Some of her many contributions include fostering the Terry Fox Run as a fun and important event at the school, acting as co-chair of Kermesse, co-founding the Alumni of Distinction Awards, serving as President of the Parents’ Association, sitting on multiple event committees, playing a vital role in the creation of the TFS Archives, and providing valuable guidance as a member of the TFS and the TFS Foundation boards.
